Dating back to the 19th century, the romantic and solitary little church is the very symbol of Riale and Alta Val Formazza. It was erected at the top of the grassy hill above the alpine village of Riale, at 1794 metres, just above the majestic Toce Waterfall, in memory of the little church in the village of Morasco, which was submerged by the waters of the hydroelectric dam. It is surrounded by a vast green heath, which dresses itself in a white mantle when winter arrives, and by the highest peaks of the Formazzine mountains on the border with neighbouring Switzerland.
